Who is Matt Payne?

Matt Payne is the founder of Sales Boost Consulting, based in Portland, Oregon, with 25 years in sales, sales training, and sales enablement. He was Director of Sales Enablement at Medallia and built and led enablement at Jama Software and Teradata: shortening rep ramp time, building playbooks, and rolling out the systems that let sales teams scale.

Today he provides fractional sales enablement to Series A and B software companies: onboarding, playbooks, and methodology adoption on a retainer, delivered by the same person who diagnosed the problem.

What does Matt do for Force Management?

After a customer launches Command of the Message®, Force Management engages Matt to support the success engagement that makes it stick. That work includes customer advisory, facilitating success planning sessions and manager check-ins, and supporting continuous learning and opportunity coaching until the methodology changes how the company goes to market.

Force Management engages him for this because of a specific track record: helping software companies adopt a sales methodology, not just learn it. That is the difference between a workshop everyone enjoyed and a pipeline that qualifies differently ninety days later. Matt holds Force Management's Command of the Message® certification.

What makes the approach different?

Matt does the work himself. No junior consultants, no handoff to an account team. The person who diagnoses where your ramp and pipeline are leaking is the person who builds the onboarding, writes the playbook, and coaches your managers.

And the work sticks because it is built for the field, not the classroom. Reps certify skills before they touch a live lead. Managers get a coaching cadence with real deal-review questions. Executives get a plan with owners and dates. AI is woven into all of it, from account research to role-play, so the team gets the efficiency without a separate initiative to manage.

Speaking and training experience

25 years of public speaking and hands-on training, including:

  • Speaker at the Sales Enablement Summit and the MindTickle Roadshow
  • Speaker at the Oregon State Chamber of Commerce Convention
  • Guest on Force Management's Ascender community, on using generative AI in sales
  • Sales kickoffs, methodology launches, and manager coaching sessions delivered across North America and EMEA

Where does Matt come from?

A 25-year career in sales and sales enablement, including senior enablement roles inside high-growth software companies. Revenue leaders he has worked with include teams at Synack, Medallia, Jama Software, Choco, ComOps, Uberflip, and Pano.AI.

That enterprise experience is exactly what he now brings, fractionally, to Series A and B software companies. See fractional sales enablement.
